Editorial transparency
Sources & Translation Policy
Canonical references are recorded as precisely as the current dataset permits. Translation provenance is disclosed conservatively.
Policy
- Pāli and Sanskrit titles, collection references, and historic Chinese translator attributions are retained where recorded.
- The modern English wording is often a Light of Dharma compilation or adaptive rendering. Where a named modern translator or edition is absent, it must not be cited as a critical scholarly translation.
- Canonical source texts may be public domain, but modern translations can carry separate copyright. Redistribution rights must be checked edition by edition before reproducing text elsewhere.
- Short quotations should carry their public passage ID and stated canonical reference. Paraphrases and interpretations are labeled separately.
